Fechado para férias!

Nos próximos dias estou completamente incomunicável via net! e também telemóvel caso me queiram telefonar, pois aqui por estas bandas ainda é difícil ter acesso a estas modernices! por isso deixo-vos algumas imagens deste paraíso! Até um dia destes!!!

How to Do: Laundry Sign

Andava eu pela net quando me deparei com esta tabuleta! Achei engraçada, original mas cara, com 8 libras pode-se fazer muita coisa! Por isso achei que podia fazer uma "igual" e de graça! Já que estava com tempo (5 minutos) continuei no computador  fui ao word department, onde escolhi o tipo de letra. Centrei, aumentei a letra e coloquei tudo num quadro ultra simples e imprimi numa folha de papel mais grossa ! 

I was surfing in the net when this sign caught my eyes! I like it but not the price tag. I mean I could spend that kind of money with other things, really! So i decided to do it myself! I had 5 minutes with no kids in need of my attention so I went to Word Department, choose the font (?),  font size and the frame and print it.

 Depois andei por casa à procura de um sistema de pendurar a minha tabuleta! dois paus de gelado e um fio de cozinha. Colei tudo bem colado e como toque final lá tive que ir buscar a lata de graxa de serviço às minhas experiências. Umas boas pinceladas de graxa castanha e Voilá!! A minha tabuleta que não me custou nem um centavo! destas é que eu gosto!!

Next step was trying to find in the house a system to hang the sign. I had two ice-cream sticks and some string that did the job perfectly! As a final touch I painted the sign with shoe brown wax (it's becoming a habit, I know!) And Voila!! My Laundry sign for no money at all! Don't you just love it when you have a nice thing without spending! I love it!!

A minha lavandaria já está assinalada! No original diz pants mas achei que clothes dava prá menina e pró menino desde os 5 aos 42!!!

My laundry room is well signed now! Instead of pants I choose the word clothes, more polite, isn't it?

Turistas

No fim de semana a #4 tinha uma festa de anos! Ok, vou pedir à mãe da festejada se pode ficar também com a #4 (quem fica com 10 fica com 11, certo?) e assim temos 3 horas para namorar! Agora que os mais velhos se foram embora nem ao supermercado consigo ir sozinha!

A festa de anos era em La Turbie, que fica literalmente na encosta acima do Mónaco. 

This weekend #4 had a birthday party, so I asked the birthday girl mother if #3 could stay too and therefore we would have 3 full hours just to ourselves! Now that the older kids are not with us I can't go anywhere without them!

The party was in La Turbie, close to Mónaco.

Passeámos pelas ruas desertas, ou estava toda a gente na praia ou a dormir a sesta!

We walk through the deserted streets (either they were on the beach or having a nap!)

Démos uma espreitadela no monumento "Troféu dos Alpes", homenagem ao Imperador Augusto com cerca de 2000 anos (La Turbie era a fronteira entre a Gália e Itália)

Saw the monument to the Imperator Augustus with around 2000 years old (La Turbie use to be the frontier between Galia and Italy)

 E apreciámos a vista! É de facto impressionante!! Baías, Cabos, Penínsulas e mar azul! O número de piscinas privadas vazias de pessoas também me surpreendeu! Em baixo, onde de repente deixa de se ver verde, fica o Mónaco!

 Se estiverem curiosos de saber o nome do enorme cruzeiro que se vê ao largo do Mónaco, chama-se Aurora e tinha chegado às 6 horas desse dia carregado de espanhóis (informação gentilmente cedida pelo High Tech do meu marido!) 

And the view!! It's very very nice! Bays, Capes and Peninsula and this huge blue sea!

The number of private empty pools was also very impressive, so hot and no one there! Can you see in the bottom when suddenly the green stops? It's Monaco.

And just a little useful information. The big cruise name is Aurora and arrived on that day at 6 am full of spanish (this info was given to me by my High Tech husband)

Descemos a encosta, de carro, pois o calor e os meus sapatos não aguentavam tamanha proesa e fomos ao Rochedo, ao Palácio dos Grimaldi.

So we had to go there, by car. That's me in the Rock, walking towards the Grimaldi Palace.

no caminho parámos para um gelado e esperámos um pouco em frente ao  Palácio a ver se o noivo aparecia ou alguma das princesas, mas parece que estavam envergonhados!

At same point we had to have an ice cream and while at it we waited in front of the Palace just to see the groom or one of the princess would came to say hello, but I guess they were a bit shy!

e só tenho pena de nesta tarde de turismo não ter pedido a alguém para  tirar uma foto ao casalinho!! fica para a próxima!

Next time I need to ask someone to take us two a picture so that way we will feel like a true tourist couple!

Laundry Day!

Hoje foi dia de lavar a roupa! Adorei!!! Que pena não ser assim durante todo o ano! 

Today was laundry day! I loved it! What a shame that isn't like that all year around!

Primeira Leva!

Os primeiros a sair para Portugal! Que inveja! Mimos dos avós, visitar tios e primos e o mais emocionante de tudo ... Campo de Férias, em português! sim porque vale sempre a pena investir na aprendizagem do calão que os teenagers falam agora! Boa viagem, divirtam-se e acima de tudo sintam a minha falta! Eu já sinto a vossa, a casa está demasiado calma apenas com a #3 & #4!

The first ones to leave to Portugal! They go to the grandparents, visit aunts, uncles & cousins and most of all ... Summer Camp, in portuguese! It's always very important to invest in learning the "language" that the portuguese  teenagers speak in this days! Bonne voyage, enjoy and most important of all miss me! I already miss you, the house is too quiet with only #3 & #4!

Que Bom! So Nice!

Que bom finalmente sentir que temos uma vida normal!

Que bom é ouvir a campainha da porta (silenciosa durante 2 anos) e não sabermos quem é

Que bom termos convites para irmos a casa de amigos com ou sem crianças

que bom conhecer uma teenager disponível para babbysitting

que bom quase já não precisar da dita teenager

que bom poder convidar amigos dos miúdos para virem passar a tarde (neste momento tenho cá 3)

que bom que os miúdos podem ir a casa de um vizinho e ficar por lá

que bom que a #1 combina com amigas irem de autocarro a qualquer lado

que bom começar a sentir que posso ser eu outra vez,

que bom sentir-me bem em casa

que bom !!!

It's so nice to feel that we have a normal life again!

So nice to hear the doorbell (silent for 2 years) and not knowing who is it

So nice to go out with friends with or without kids

So nice to know one baby-sitter

So nice to know that we almost don't need her

So nice to see my kids inviting friends over (at the moment I have 3 here)

So nice that my kids feel that they can go to a neighbour and stay there

So nice that #4 goes with a friend by bus shopping or to watch a movie (in english)

So nice to feel that I can be me again

So nice to feel good at home

So nice!!

Sucateira/Junk lady

Há quem me chame sucateira eu só tenho pena de não ter despertado para esta faceta minha mais cedo! 

Em Inglaterra descobri os "car boot sale" e "Jumble Sales", tipo feira da ladra mas o expositor fica num parque de estacionamento. Adorava andar por lá a ver o que outros não queriam mais! Muita tralha mas também verdadeiros tesouros. Foi lá que comprei a cadeira da V. para a mesa de jantar (cadeira de bar branca que pintei e cortei as pernas para ficar um pouco mais baixa) por 1 £ e a casa de bonecas por 5 £.

There are some who call me "the junk lady" but the only thing that I regret is only discover this part of me so late! 

While in England I loved to go to Car Boot Sales and Jumble Sales! Lots and lots of junk but also true gems for me. It was there that I bought V's chair for our  dining table for 1£ and the little dolls house for 5£.

A graça deste tipo de feiras é precisamente não gastar muito dinheiro e procurar, procurar sempre com os olhos muito atentos e finalmente encontrar a verdadeira pechincha!

Esta veio de um leilão de móveis em segunda mão que depois de lixada e pintada dorme ao pé de mim todos os dias! A razão porque gosto tanto dela e devido a sua imperfeição, arestas usadas a mostrar uso e desuso!

The fun in this is to find a true bargain and for that you need to keep your eyes wide open and never give up.

This one came from a auction and after a little love sleeps besides me every day! And the reason that I like her so much is because she's not perfect just like me!

Houve um Sr. que me disse que eu tinha olho quando perante uma série de banquinhos escolhi este! Mas também só paguei 3 £. Se estão curiosos os sapatos foram usados pela #1, #2, #3 e #4, solas usadas, pele esfolada, atacadores desfiados mesmo como eu gosto!

An old man in the stand told me that I have a Good Eye when in the middle of little stools I  choose this one. 3 £! If you were wondering the little shoes were used by #1, #2, #3 and #4. They show how much wear and tear they had, just the way I like it!

Como estão a ver eu gosto de "sucata"!

Dái-me água senão morro!

O calor é tanto, tanto que estou completamente às escuras e o raio dos mosquitos vão contra o ecran do computador como se ele fosse a bendita da arca de Noe! Graças a eles tenho as minhas pernas tipo montanha russa, pois eles gostam de ver uma bela de uma perna inchada depois do banquete. E também a V. e a C.! Há aqueles de sangue ruim a quem nem os mosquitos lhe tocam!

Enfim, as férias teem sido boas, com muitos banhos de piscina e poucas idas à praia, pois o calor é tanto que só entrar no carro desmotiva qualquer um! Amanhã vamos com uns amigos experimentar uma praia de areia, só espero encontrar um buraquinho para estender a toalha!

Bem queria avançar nos meus quadrados de crochet mas mal pego neles e como são de lã começo logo a transpirar das mãos por isso vou esperar até dias mais frios! No entretanto, delicio-me com estes:

"Give me water or I'll die!"

It's so so hot around here that I'm totally in the dark and the damn mosquitos fly against the computer ecran like it was the Noe Arc! Thanks to them my legs are like the roller coaster of funland! How they like to see a pretty leg getting swollen after a feast! And it's not only me, poor C & V. too! There are others however with really bad blood that not even the mosquitos want them!

Anyway, the holidays are here with lots and lots of pool diving and staying at home due to the really hot weather just to think in moving one legs is to much! And besides the beach is full of turists so to find a little hole to put your little group in is a challenge! I'm going to find that tomorrow as we are going to the beach!

I really wanted to add more squares to my stash but it's literally impossible as I start sweating as soon as I do some square granny crochet, so I have to wait to cooler days! In the meantime I'm happy just to see this:

A minha Avó Luísa! Grandma!

Tantas vezes me lembro dela com saudade! Tive o privilégio de ter uma Avó que me mimou! Não com doces mas com sopas, não com roupas mas com festinhas na cabeça para adormecer ao som da história de sempre - "dai-me água senão morro!" E por vezes sinto culpa de em adolescente inconsequente lhe ter respondido de maneira torta, de não ir lá abaixo mais vezes! Mas acredito mesmo que estou perdoada! E quando, passado uns anos, voltei ao primeiro andar (agora com outro ocupante!) a emoção foi grande! As memórias eram tantas!! E apesar de estar tudo muito diferente está tudo muito igual! E chorei! De saudade! Agora percebo porque é que com a idade as emoções ficam à flor da pele! Para ti Avó Luísa, minha estrela brilhante!

To my dear Grandma that through out the years gave me her love wrapped in soups and bedtime stories while combing my hair. Sometimes I regret when I was impatient with her but I believe that she's over that! And when after a couple of years I went back to her old house (today with a new owner!) the emotion was bigger then words! So many memories in that house! So different but yet the same! And I cried!! Just because I miss her! So this little poem is for you dear Avó Luísa!
